Book Review: Small Business Legal Guide

Understanding Small Business Legal Issues

By Nancy Gibson
Choctaw County Chamber of Commerce

This week's business review is on a book just in to the AERN (Alabama Entrepreneurial Research Network) Center titled Small Business Legal Guide: How to Understand Legal Issues. It is about protecting your small business.

One of first questions you will ask yourself when going into business will be, "How many owners will this business have?" Will your business be a sole proprietorship, a partnership, limited partnership, family partnership, limited, liability company (LLC), or perhaps a corporation? And what does all that mean? Many of these questions will be answered for you in our Small Business Legal Guide section.

Employee agreements, performance appraisal reports, employer recordkeeping requirements, business data, sellers' information forms, equipment leasing, subleases, consumer credit applications, IRS forms, and distributorship agreements are just a few of the documents you can look at, research, and better understand with AERN's legal guide section.

Knowledge is power. Being an informed business owner will help you and help your business.

Call your nearest AERN Center or the Bruno Business Library at The University of Alabama to book an appointment that will get you started on a path to business ownership.
