2008 Retail Seminar, Monroeville

Retailers from Monroe and surrounding counties looking for tips to improve their businesses received loads of best-practices information at the Retail Seminar held in Monroeville on March 12. The seminar, jointly sponsored by the Alabama Enterpreneurial Research Network and the Monroeville Area Chamber of Commerce, focused on topics such as the importance of customer service, doing market research for yourself, and listening closely to your suppliers.


Retailers from Monroeville and other nearby places gathered at the Monroeville Water Tower Conference Center on March 12, 2008 for a retail education event sponsored by AERN and the Monroeville Area Chamber of Commerce.


A large number of participants were on hand to hear several speakers and a panel presentation.


Mr. David Carrington, president and chief executive office of RacingUSA.com, addresses participants.


Mr. Ralph Stacy, president and chief executive office of the Chamber of Commerce Association of Alabama, gives an inspiring motivational speech.


Mr. Mickey Gee, president of The Pants Store and Taylor Company in Birmingham; Dr. Lauren Skinner, Assistant Professor in the Marketing and Industrial Distribution Department in the UAB School of Business; and Mr. Shawn Beitelspacher, owner of Southern Sole located in Tuscaloosa, gave excellent retailing advice to participants.
